Thai Dishes you need to try once
Thai Dishes you need to try once
Thai cuisine
is on the rise these days with most of the restaurants keeping a separate menu
for Thai dishes. Having said this, Thai cuisine is full of dishes that are
lightly prepared but packs a punch with their indigenous spices. Even though
the authentic Thai spices and vegetables might be difficult to procure in some
places but there’s always an alternative to them. So here are some of the
dishes you need to try once because WHY NOT !!!! 😋😋1. Thai green curry/Gang Keo Wan
The most
popular Thai dish served in almost all the restaurants serving Thai. It’s
considered the spiciest curry among all the dishes but it is also sweet
considering the high amount of coconut milk that is added to it. Its main
ingredient is young green chilies. It is prepared mostly with meat but even
tastes good without the meat.
2. Green Papaya Salad/ Som Tam
It is the most popular salad in Thailand because it’s healthy as
well as filled with flavor. The main ingredient of this is as you might have
guessed by its name is the green unripe papaya. It’s sweet as well as spicy
because of the chili dressing that is added to it.
3. Thai red curry/ Gaeng Daeng
The main ingredient here is the red curry paste and like the
green curry, here also a huge amount of coconut milk is used. Various meats
like beef, chicken, duck, etc and for vegans, tofu can be added to enhance the
taste.
4. Pad Thai
This name is no stranger to foodies. Pad thai noodles are rice
noodles, unlike others. It’s mainly a street food but we can see it being
served in high-end restaurants with added twists. Pad Thai mainly contains
eggs, tofu, tamarind pulp, fish sauce, dried shrimp, garlic or shallots, red
chili pepper, palm sugar, lime, peanuts. Half of the fun in eating this lies in
the fact that many of the ingredients are provided as condiments on the side
such as peanuts, bean sprouts, red chili pepper, etc.
5. Thai yellow curry
Back in the golden days, this curry was found on the streets of
Bangkok, where chunks of chicken and potatoes were added. Its main ingredient
was the yellow curry powder or the Indian Madras curry powder.
6. Chicken with Cashew Nuts/ Kai Med Ma Muang
A highly flavorful dish that is loved by locals and foreigners
alike, and it is stir-fried chicken (everyone loves stir-fried chicken,
period!) prepared with cashew nuts, soy sauce, onions, honey, pepper, chilies
and any other vegetable that we want to add. Being loaded with veggies it is
healthy and yummy.
7. Mango and Sticky Rice / Kao Niew Ma Muang
At last, comes the dessert which is very simple yet it tastes so
very good. Made with sticky rice, mango slices, and sweet coconut cream. After
a heavy meal, this is the perfect way to satiate your sweet tooth. And the best
part is that it is served the whole year even when mango season gets over.
